WHO IS KARBON ?

It was towards the end of the 70s that the college photo lab opened the doors to the wonderful world of photography for me. Armed with a superb FOCA Sport camera inherited from my father, I discovered the magic of light and the ‘miracles’ of chemistry (an area for which I still have a strong aversion).

But photography competes with music, reading and many other emerging passions, and like any teenager with a bit of a curiosity, I got sidetracked… Photography wasn’t really a priority then, but rather a hobby like any other, episodic and opportunistic.

The years went by and so did the cameras, from the most manual to the fully automatic compact, not forgetting of course the good big SLRs, the 110, 126, APS formats and even the famous and not regretted Disc!

The arrival of digital photography in the 90s had a serious impact on my approach to photography. Not really thrilled by the quality of the digital cameras, I fired without thinking, the images got lost on the hard drives, and I ended up giving up photography.

In 2021, looking for old cameras linked to the history of the audiovisual industry, I bought by chance a Minolta 7xi with a few lenses. A touch of nostalgia mixed with the desire to test the beast, and the first roll (in black & white) immediately took me into this rediscovery of photography.

It was probably the “old school” side of black and white that attracted me at that time, but above all I think it was the desire to take up photography again with a different perspective that imposed itself on me.

Karbon was born !

AND WHO IS BLUE ?

Another facet of my personality, with a different creative approach, more uncertain, more hesitant, less strict too, in a universe where my favorite color will set the tone (or the tonality, for blue’s aficionados 😊) .

Another open door for exploration. To be continued …
