TOOLBOX
MY LAB
As explained in my working process, I am rather allergic to chemistry and its hazardous manipulations. My films are developed and scanned by a professional lab, and I then “develop” the Tiff HD files with dedicated software.
Having no need for the power of market leaders, I turned to Darktable™, free software developed by enthusiasts and photographers, which benefits from serious monitoring, with regular improvements and corrections, and a very active user community.
Although perhaps less intuitive than others, it is logical and very efficient, non-destructive and has catalog management that meets my needs, namely essentially:
-
-
- Cleaning the scan;
- Finalization of the framing;
- Strengthening contrasts;
- Processing of gray scales or colors;
- Possible application of a toning.
-
I use the software in the same way for black and white film or digital color, except obviously additional work on colors for tones of blue.
